Outdoor Chandelier
77There are many different styles of outdoor lighting available ranging from outdoor sconce lighting or outdoor chandelier lighting, to outdoor LED lighting. Each type of lighting has a purpose and is best suited for a specific type of effect. For example outdoor LED lighting is often used to line pathways, wall sconces are useful to place around the exterior of your home wherever you need additional lighting and an outdoor chandelier is best used in areas, such as outdoor entertainment areas, where you need direct lighting.
Unless you have plenty of money for decorating you may want to shop for your chandeliers at stores such as Target, Home Depot or Lowes. A Target outdoor chandelier, for example, will likely look just as great when installed outdoors in your patio as a chandelier that you would purchase from a more expensive store that specializes in lighting.
One of the key attributes of chandelier lighting is that it is considered a focal point of any setting. Contrary to what many people think a chandelier does not have to be hung in the direct center of a room unless that is what you want people to focus on. In deciding where to hang your chandelier, determine what the focus of the area is to be. Perhaps it is the center of the room. You may have tables and seating area scattered around the perimeter of a patio while the central section is used for dancing or other activities. On the other hand, if you have a dining table and chairs set up on your patio which is where most people sit to eat you may want to hang the outdoor chandelier directly above the table and used softer sconce lighting to illuminate the rest of the patio.
Chandeliers do not have to be very large either. Again, taking the
example of smaller tables or seating areas scattered around your patio,
you may want to buy smaller chandeliers and have one above each seating
area. This will produce a rather stunning effect, especially when seen
from a distance and it should not be that expensive either. Smaller
chandeliers can often be bought at a much cheaper price than the larger,
more decorative type.
There are several different styles of outdoor chandelier lighting. An
outdoor candle chandelier does not require any electrical wiring. As the
name suggests, candles are placed in holders on the chandelier and are
lit with match. As they are set outdoors the candle is usually well
sheltered so that it does not easily blow out with every gust of wind
that blows by. Candle lighting provides a very soft, gentle and almost
dreamy atmosphere which often suits an outdoor area perfectly.
Outdoor solar chandeliers are perfect for using in outdoor areas without
electricity. If you want to illuminate an outdoor gazebo but you do
not want to go to all the trouble of laying electrical wiring, solar
chandeliers should suit. Daytime sunlight charges the lights, which
then glow at night. They are usually designed to automatically light up
at night and turn off during the day.
Outdoor chandeliers that are powered by electricity also need additional
safety features built in. Even if the outdoor area where you are
placing the chandelier is covered, you should still look for one that is
approved for outdoor use. The circuitry should be totally sealed off so
no moisture can get into it and the plug should also be suitable for
outdoor use. In some instances you may want the bulbs themselves to be
covered as well for added protection. If you get a lot of strong winds
during the year you may also want to ensure that it is easy to take your
chandelier down.
With the many different choices available for outdoor chandelier
lighting, it is usually a relatively easy task to find and install what
is needed fairly inexpensively. It is well worth the effort and any
expense as the difference it will make to your outdoor entertainment
areas will be dramatic.
